Two mature ash trees with ash die-back on Swinton Greenway south of Campbell Road playing fields will be getting a helping hand as tree surgeons remove deadwood and reduce the remaining branches to encourage new, healthier growth.
Salford City Council have been using this technique developed in the Netherlands, where the disease has been affecting ash trees for about 10 years longer than in the UK. Sadly, two smaller ash trees near the footbridge at Bradford Road are beyond rescue and will have to be removed as a matter of safety. The work is due to be carried out in the week commencing 16.8.2021.
